First Experiences of Church in Luxembourg

SO last Sunday I went to a church called Oasis. I think it is Presbyterian but I'm not really sure. The pastor preaches in English so I was really excited to try it out. It's my host families home church and they teach some of the Sunday School classes so they were able to introduce me to some of their friends. The worship was very hyper (picture a lot of clapping and dancing) which is not what I'm used to so it was interesting and honestly a little uncomfortable. The sermon was taught by a guest pastor and was about the healing power of Jesus, specifically healing sickness.

The other Christian church that most expats go to is called ANCL (All Nations Church of Luxembourg). The pastor is American and it has a pretty big American expat community. I have a Younglife connection to someone who goes to the church (her name is Eunice and she's amazing) and so this morning I met her at ANCL.

The worship was a mix between modern (like Hillsong) and a bit more traditional. The message was based around James 1:12-18 and it was a pretty uplifting sermon. It was one of those that felt directed right at me so that's always encouraging.

The pastor gave us a little challenge for this week that was really motivating to me that I wanted to share with you guys: Look for Gods goodness. We know that all good things come from God( James 1:17) but sometimes in the midst of a broken world it's really hard to see those things. SO this week I am going to take him up on that challenge and try to make myself more aware of Gods goodness all the time. One example he gave was how a bus driver gets you where you need to go even if the ride is bumpy or the bus driver is mean... it's still something good that we can make ourselves aware of.

I'm going to try a couple small groups at both churches to see where I find the best community. If anyone wants to pray for me that would definitely be my prayer request for right now: that I find good community.
